Summary:

The VP of Inventory Management reports to the Chief Operating Officer and provides overall strategic and operational direction for inventory management, purchasing, including strategic sourcing, value analysis and operational logistics. The primary objective is to manage and control the flow of supplies and equipment from acquisition to disposition. Areas of emphasis include supply and capital budgets, inventory control, asset management and adherence to organizational and GPO contracts for supplies and equipment. Responsible for department budget adherence and requisite review and analysis of departmental operations reports.

NJ Eye LLC is a private-equity backed, independent, integrated eye care organization with its corporate headquarters in Union, New Jersey.  The company has over 250 eye care professionals and business support roles across a growing network of over 17 eye care clinic locations, spanning New Jersey, with plans to affiliate with other eye care practices in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and nationwide.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead implementation of new ERP system
  • Oversees reporting and analyses of inventory, product life cycle, and demand forecasting
  • Conducts daily/weekly/monthly analyses to forecast potential inventory issues and mitigate risks
  • Ensures efficient supply chain and inventory optimization strategies; develops, implements and improves internal processes/controls to achieve supply chain objectives on an ongoing basis
  • Establishes Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as related to supply chain; develops and leads execution of relevant KPI reporting requirements
  • Manages vendor procurement and existing vendor relationships; negotiates or re-negotiates service contracts to assure that the organization is receiving the best value
  • Conducts annual employee performance reviews; provides ongoing coaching and mentorship; interviews, hires and trains new employees as necessary
  • Interfaces with senior leadership, staff, physicians, and other stakeholders, on a regular basis
  • Develops and implements policies for inventory management; maintains compliance with state/federal/local regulatory standards
  • Keeps abreast of industry best practices/methods related to product lifecycle
  • Provides assistance with ad-hoc, special projects, as needed

Essential Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years’ progressive senior-level inventory management experience in a growing organization; experience in healthcare environment highly desirable
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or relevant field required/MBA preferred

  • Skill in evaluating the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures and implementing best practices
  • Solid computer skills – requirement of MS applications – MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Inventory Management systems, ERP systems
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the professional development of staff members
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of collaboration, inclusion and diversity
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
