Jorge Andrade, MD is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at NJRetina. Dr. Andrade was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he earned his medical degree from the University of Guadalajara through the Academic Excellency modality.
He completed his internship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York, a research fellowship in the Advanced Imaging Laboratory and residency training in ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai in New York. He then pursued a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Andrade has authored and co-authored publications in multiple peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Retina, and British Journal of Ophthalmology. He has presented at national and international meetings, including the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and the Retina Society. His work includes studies on diabetic retinopathy and novel imaging modalities such as Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography, Adaptive Optics, and Retinal Metabolic Analysis.
Dr. Andrade is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Andrade enjoys playing music, Formula 1, baseball, and spending time with his family. He is a native Spanish speaker.
