Jonathan “Yoni” Levenson, MD is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at NJRetina. A native of Florida, Dr. Levenson earned his undergraduate degree with honors in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and recognized with multiple academic awards.
He completed his internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, where he engaged in both clinical training and research across a wide spectrum of retinal diseases. He then pursued a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Levenson has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented at national and international meetings, including the American Society of Retina Specialists and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. His work includes studies on diabetic retinopathy, retinal artery occlusions, and retinal manifestations of systemic disease.
Dr. Levenson is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Levenson enjoys basketball, traveling, and spending time with his family.
