Retinal Vascular Disorders

The transparent media of the eye allows for direct visualization of arteries and veins running within the substance of the retina. This provides a unique opportunity to evaluate tissue damage from systemic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, emboli, and autoimmune disease. Such disorders may require local treatment of the retina with laser or surgery in addition to control of the underlying systemic process.
